Acting icon William Shatner has enjoyed quite a ride in his long career from starring on Star Trek to multiple other movies and series including TJ Hooker in the 80s to the comedy series Third Rock From the Sun in the 90s to the acclaimed Boston Legal (for which he won two Emmys in the early 2000s). He's made a name for himself in the quirky world of "spoken records" and been the long running spokesperson for Priceline.com. Now he's become an outspoken advocate for eBikes as well. Ride along as he takes us on this journey and why his whole family now rides electric bikes with him (all fifteen of them). Even as he travelled on a river barge in Europe recently. It's a "love story" like no other. From the Captain himself who's now leading the charge in the EBike Revolution..
Join us for another amazing journey here on the PEDEGO PODCAST as we talk with Aaron Maynard who bought a Pedego in London back in 2013 when he was a Colonel in the US Air Force on assignment at the US EMBASSY there. Whole idea was to get to work faster thru the maze of London traffic (and maybe enjoy some exercise and fresh air along the way). Which led instead to him exploring the alleys and "Penny Lanes" of this historic city. And eventually to return to his roots in South Carolina (after he retired) to open a Pedego Electric Bike store in Myrtle Beach. Leaving the Air Force to lead a new type of charge...
Join us as we talk with former banking executive Michael Murphy on how an eBike helped save his life (helping him shed nearly half his 300 pound weight). Which led him to postpone his retirement plans and open his own Pedego EBike store instead in Eugene, Oregon as an encore career. Helping others find their path to health and happiness (as he found his).
Tune it and hear Pedego Dealer Jon Krick from Pedego McDowell Mountain talk about his path from pro golfer to eBike dealer. And how eBikes helped him get out in the world and get happy again after injuries cut short his career.
Join us as we talk with Cassidy Castleman and his ongoing eBike journey. From helping his father open one of the first eBike dealerships in Sacramento to helping others do the same at Pedego Electric Bikes. Fulfilling his goal to "change the world" as he once dreamed of in college (when his mission was to "join the Peace Corps"). Or later when he sold early solar systems. Now changing the world, one revolution at a time...
Meet Pedego dealer Rich Bastian and learn how after being a serial entrepreneur for much of his life, he finally found his path and passion by opening a Pedego Electric bike store in Cape May, NJ. And how that quickly led him to open several more stores as well selling to customers just like him (with his recent twin hip replacements). Enjoying the ride (and adding smiles all around).
Meet Kara Dietrich, a Passionate Pedego Customer and Electric Bike Enthusiast. Who converted from riding her regular bike a few years ago and now makes it a practice to ride her Pedego Electric Bike at least a couple of times a day. Taking advantage of the great weather and great trails around her suburban Houston home. And turning this daily journey into a whole lifestyle that takes her to campgrounds all across the Southwest with community rides and her new found pack of Pedego pedalers.
Find out what keeps her moving and the fun she's having riding the EBike Revolution. Courtesy of Pedego Electric Bikes.
Meet Amanda and Jason, Pedego's multi-store, electric bike dealers in Houston. Talking about why they left their corporate jobs at Microsoft to open their first family business. And the fun they're having selling "fun" every day. And putting smiles on everyone's faces.
Plus their bigger project to work with the City of Houston selling electric bikes to Houston's police force. And working with the city to improve the overall "rideability of the city" (part of an "urban planning process" we're seeing roll out nationwide).
" we're seeing roll out nationwide).
So how do a husband (who's recently sold his auto repair business) and his Yoga teacher wife find success and happiness in the next chapter of their life? These empty nesters leave the rat race behind and join the Electric Bicycle Revolution. Becoming Pedego's latest (and fastest growing) dedicated dealer in Santee, CA.
Doing what they love. And loving what they do with their first family business that includes both husband and wife, a couple of kids and even a cousin or two. As Greg describes it, "as much as I loved the auto repair business, every customer that came into my store was stressed. And when my repairs were over, they secretly hoped they'd never see me again. Now every customer that I meet ends up with a big smile on their face. And they come back over and over again as we share rides together and they hang out at our store."
A totally different "customer interaction". Or as his wife Stephanie says, "I spent my life as a stay-at-home mom raising two boys. And helping people thru my Yoga and Reiki healing. Now I get to channel that energy into another form of helping and healing by putting people back onto a bike and getting them active and social again" "And adding a big smile to their face," beams Greg.
Another couple who's found a path to happiness by opening a family run, community focused fun business to ride them thru the next chapter in their life. Only on the PEDEGO PODCAST: Riding the EBike Revolution. On Orange County's only community radio station, OC TALK RADIO.
In episode one, we heard the story of how Don DiCostanzo (founder of Pedego Electric Bikes) discovered a niche and a need for electric bikes (particularly among aging baby boomers who loved the fun of riding a bike again but struggled getting back up the hill and back home after their adventure was over). And how he created a "proof of concept store" to prove he could sell them next to the Crab Cooker on Balboa Peninsula (here in OC).
But how did that lead Don to start opening MORE stores and build his own dedicated dealer network (a rarity even in today's EBike business)? Meet Tom Bock, another aging baby boomer seeking a fun and profitable "lifestyle business" he could use to ride out the next chapter in his life. Who walked into Don's life at a trade show and said "I want to be your first dealer". And how (together) they figured out the whole dealer formula and turned it into the remarkable success it's become today (as they near 200 Pedego dealers nationwide...with double that number planned in the next few years).
Listen to Tom's passion for the product and his sound reasoning why he sees Pedego's dealer network continuing to grow (even in a world where brick and mortar stores are contracting). Due to their multi-pronged strategy of sales, service and rentals (a big part of how they get people to try before they buy and pay for their retail store concept).
It's all here in this week's second episode of The Pedego Podcast: Riding the EBike Revolution. On Orange County's only community radio station, OC TALK RADIO. Streaming live from the University of California's BEALL APPLIED INNOVATION CENTER Thursdays at noon PT.
